[Suggestion] Mounts

Horses and other mounts shouldn't make a champion or sovereign immune to being knocked prone, in fact it should be the exact opposite. Getting knocked from your horse it's very unlikely you are going to be able to land on your feet. Extra movement is bonus enough imho, you could add a charge and initiative bonuses to make up for the increased chance of being knocked prone. Additionally if you are knocked prone you might lose a turn getting back on your mount or just be reduced to whatever your base movement rate was without a mount.

There is an assumption being made here that magic has the same type of effect as physical phenomena.  IMHE, such is not the case.  Dumb beats tend to be immune from magical effects not specifically tailored to their mentality.  They even tend to extend their immunity to those around them.  For example, when was the last time you succeeded in using illusion to fool a horse.  If your horse doesn't believe that fire breathing bulldozer is there, you probably won't either.

I presume all mounts provide knockdown immunity because managing the separation of horse and rider in tactical combat was a hassle to code.

Yeah, that's my conclusion as well.

I would suggest doing away with the "immune to being knocked prone" trait given by mounts:

If a unit is knocked prone while mounted it should lose its mount for the remainder of this combat encounter. That would help the feeling that you can really change things on the battle field and create more diversity in tactical combat, without it being too much of a change.

I like this idea.

I'd also like to see a series of spear promotions that give bonuses vs mounted.

Fun idea :D

I could see horse riders having immunity to "pronicity" (the likelihood of being knocked prone) from footmen because of the angles involved, but i imagine enemy cavalry would be able to knock a rider off their horse.

Mounts are uber OP.

16 gildar.  All positive modifiers.  Mount is so perfectly trained it can never die, or be lost in battle.

They are absolutely gamebreaking in the current build.

Or just kill the damn horse.  If a cavalryman were to just wade around amongst enemy infantry during an epic conflict, I have no doubt the horse would fall sooner than later, no matter the training of the horse or the rider.

Mounts should be great at hit and run tactics, but extremely vulnerable to being flanked.
