[bug] [0.86] Summoning

Often on summoning a creature during the first round, the spell will not actually take place and the spell will only trigger if cast a second time. If this is intended behavior, there is no feedback regarding cause (enemy effect, miscast, etc).

Having issues with Summoning spells, was planning to try them out further before posting (couldn't make nature's ally work, but elemental summon spells seem to work properly for me...) But before posting I wanted to test them abit further.

So please include what kind of summoning spells you have trouble with so I can help you try it out

Sincerely

The other spell besides nature's ally was the shadow warg summoning spell. I have only tried summoning other creatures such as elementals on rare occasions and not had trouble with them.

I could be off, but appears that if you move then cast a summon spell, it doesn't actually work.  If you summon without moving, then it works.

Many spells have a casting time.  Meaning they don't trigger immediatly and you have to wait a number of action equal to their casting time before they do.  I suspect that is what you are seeing here.

When a spell takes multiple turns to cast, the player stays locked (can't do anything with him while casting).  Also, the spell will show up in the turn list (showing you where your character spent his turn still casting).  In this case, you cast a summon, then the next turn you get to move the same character again.  The summon never fires off.  If you cast the summon again, it will work again.

I've only tested this with summoning an earth elemental.  So, results may vary.

I have seen the same issue you are describing, but using Procipinee and casting Shadow Warg. I hadn't really paid attention to whether or not I had moved prior to spell not going off, but will definitely pay attention to that now.

As Novelty says, that probably isn't what I'm seeing because a character actually working on a spell is not selectable. I can select and re-cast in my case. So I'm thinking there's either a lack of UI feedback, a bug keeping the character enabled, or a spell misfire.
