Major Bug: Research not affecting Cobalts

I will provide screenshots if needed.

The TEC laser amplification research does not affect Cobalts.

The 2 techs, 2 levels a piece, should increase the Cobalts average damage from 10, to an 11 after the first tech and 12 after the second.

This is not the case. The value remains static at 10 after the research.

Also, the Rebel's laser amplification suddenly jumps the value to 14, when it is only an additional 5%, to 12.5

Thus, the value pre research on the Rebels is 10, post is 14.

If this could be fixed... Or if im wrong, corrected..

the ingame display value is kinda worthless. It is rounded far to much.

cobalts start off at 9.5 dps iirc, and are rounded up to 10 when displayed in-game.  between 0% upgrades and 10% upgrades, the display number SHOULDNT change.

but, if you could get screenshots of your 14 dps cobalts... that doesnt seem right.

10% of 10 is 1, yes?

So logically, thats an 11- something that happened in Diplomacy and the prior ones.

Whats so wrong with flat, simple numbers -.-

yea... no but 9.5*1.1 =10.45 which, rounds down to 10.

now 9.5*1.2 and 9.5*1.25... those are numbers which are not 10.

Flat numbers are not good enough for ships like corvettes, or strikecraft.

and besides, ships never actually deal that value anyway, they got modifiers, and armor, and shield mitigtation and stuff...

That math goes way over my head, lol. But i get the idea- i just recall my max research Cobalts for both sides doing 10 and 14 respectively.

I deal in absolutes, ceebs going into the maths; lol.

EDIT- on my phone, will get two definitive screenshots tomoz.

With regards to the Rebel Corvettes, Savage Thrill maybe?

Cobalts; not corvettes. I dont use corvettes so... And savage fury wouldnt account for this- i noticed it over one of my asteroids.

I just realized theres a beta feedback section- why is it at the bottom? Q.Q

Can a mod move my threads? I feel like a noob. Or should they be here : S

Here's what I observed in testing this.

Upgrade level -> Cobalt Info Card Damage

0 -> 10 (No upgrades)

1 -> 10

2 -> 10

3 -> 11

4 -> 11

5 -> 12 (Rebel TEC bonus research)

This was for a lone Cobalt in a friendly gravity well.

This is why I rarely research the tech for the frigates weapon. It's not worth it unless you go crazy with them and that usually doesn't work well to say the least.

Edit: Been like this since the first Sins instalment. Gets more bang for your research cost weapon wise if you upgrade the weapon type that have a high value from the beginning. In fact this is true in most strategy and tactical games, percentages you know. :)

Yeah, i double checked and TheEvidence is right. I did get a 14 in a friendly gravity well though:

this ones most likely caused by it being a new planet, and a phase jump fixed it.
