SoaSE Trinity - Machine SID mismatch after Windows reinstall

Ok, so I reinstalled Windows 7 today. I have a separate HDD for games, so I deleted the game folder there and reinstalled Trinity from my DVD. I can launch 1.00 just fine, it does not even ask for registration or login which is weird?

Anyway, I installed Impulse (which is now called gamestop? or something), and after a self-update it shows SoaSE Trinity under "my games" after I am logged in. I hit update, and it updates to 1.34 - so far, so good.

But I can't get it to start. It keeps saying "The product appears to be validated but the machine SID doesn't match. Try deleting the file D and re-activating."

Ok, WTF is "file D"?? As I said, I already deleted everything before re-installing. I swear the old Impulse Software had a "re-activate" option or something, but there is nothing in this new gamestop app. I can't reactivate, I can't play.

Help :(

Deleting the appropriate bin file from C:\Users\All Users\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\License should allow you to reactivate when you run the game again (you'll need to enter your Stardock account and serial key).

Hi kryo,

thanks for your quick reply. I found the file, deleted it and got it to work now :)

In order to see the "All users" folder, it may be worthwile to mention that you have to enable viewing of "protected system files" in system control --> folder options, it is NOT enough to have just hidden files enabled.
