I was struck by how familiar this game looks both from the UI and overall mechanics perspective... Did I miss SD's transition to iOS gaming???

Whoa....IP theft or what???
Okay, so thats probably a little too far, but yeah, it's not just you, that could easily be a licensed product.

Aside from it being a square grid space 4x, what's the problem?

Dont think it's the spawn of the marriage between GalCiv and SINS?
Meh, no problem (my ip theft thing was a joke :p) just appears heavily influenced by SD is all.

I'll be buying it.  Freelancer, Wing Commander, Jupiter-Nexus, Sins, Eve,etc, etc.  People have tried things like this for a long time--tech is finally just getting there for it and now it's all coming out.

Yeah, i may buy it, I didn't check out it's price, but i'll get for the ipad, if it's cheap.

Price is the determining factor.

I don't like spending a great deal on games for my i devices, since they are often play and forget, so a few bucks here or there is ok. I only tend to play them when lounging in front of the TV...

Exactly... When I first saw it I thought Brad had decided to go all Dark Side. :D

I hope they at least licensed Brad's AI... Or maybe Brad has been moonlighting on the side.  Of course where he would find the time I have no idea.  Ha! I've got it... SD has written time travel s/w and hasn't told anyone until the past. HAHAHA.

Still no final word from Apple yet but the announced price is $1.99 per month.  I'll give it a go.

2 bucks a month? Not bad, charged to your itunes account presumably? Yeah, i'll go for that for a bit. It's nice to have a few time wasters on the ipad for lazy times. Thanks Sin.

Digressing, anyone sufficiently impressed by the new iPad to think about upgrading? I still have the original, and i still see nothing that can justify upgrading, when my device is fine. If i didn't have one, sure i'd by a new one, that screen is impressive, but not enough for me to ditch a perfectly fine iPad 1.

I'd love to upgrade but the iPad has me priced out now.  I have the first generation and the Ipad2 was tempting.  The iPad3 looks to be a game changer.  Supposedly it will incorporate a new type of battery with around 10x the capacity of the current one.

Too many other things that are needed to drop the big bucks--and apparently the "3" may come in a "cheap" and "full" selection as the price is going to be high.  Too bad.  I'll be using the iPad 1 until I win a newer model in a contest or my battery holds less than a 50% normal charge and I see if they honor their $99 replacement guarantee.

I understand the need for this, but not a selling point for me. Both me and the missus only use it at home, so a power point is never far away. We only bought it...well, i couldn't really tell you why, she wanted it for Christmas a few years back, so i bought! (gen 1 ipad)

The res on the screen sure is something to see, but since i'm (we) am not a power user, it certainly is not enough to justify the jump. I could really see us sticking with the gen 1 for as long as it will work. (I hope my missus doesn't read this though, or there will be an ipad "accidentally" dropped in the bath tab by tomorrow!)

I'm actually waiting on iphone 5 for my next idevice upgrade. I didn't bother with the 4S since just about all of Siri's (or at least what i wanted) functionality is disabled here in AUS, (damn or accents) so it had nothing to make me ditch my iphone 4. If what i have read about the screen size for the iphone 5 is correct, then i'll grab that one, or move to an Android HTC if it fails to impress.
