Suggestion - Character Creation

Also bugs. There are bugs.

Hello! I wanted to give some feedback. I'll start with the bugs, suggestions in a moment.

First off, when creating a new faction and selecting a bonus, the tooltip will sometimes stick. For example, choosing "Adepts" will make the tooltip for "Adept" remain on the info bar at the bottom. When mousing over other bonuses, I get nothing.

Secondly, when creating a background for character and for faction, if I click outside of the box and make a change (for example, changing the faction flag/symbol) the background is erased. This is a very minor thing, mostly cosmetic, avoided by only writing a background after getting a set flag.

Suggestion, is there any reason to choose a faction of men/fallen? Are Amarians different from Tarthians? If it is not purely cosmetic, then that isn't known. If there are benefits for choosing one over another, it would help if they could be known.

Suggestion two, the character creation items (ie, Staff of Souls) are really, really neat. Would it be possible to add more of those, say, one for each default sovereign and one or two extras for the heck of it? It'd help with customization, not to mention that it will make new strategies, if not possible, more feasible.

Regardless, enjoying the game a great deal. I look forward to the next version of beta.

EDIT: I forgot, one more thing I wanted to add. I, personally, would like to have a broader range of domains - that is, instead of my kingdom generating rejuvenating life, it generates icy tundra, or a desert, or a swamp. Not for the stats, but just as a cosmetic issue. Would this be too much to ask for?

Agreed.  They are not the same, the base values for strength, intelligence, etc vary among the races.  There's a post here on the forums that lays out the differences, but it really should be available to us in game.

I'd say that this certainly isn't too much to ask for, and indeed should be incorporated into the main factions as well. Resoln's deathly, ghostly realm should look different from Kraxis' sandy plains or Magnar's volcanic lands. Tarth territory should look forested, and Pariden pastures should have a bluish hue, as if the magic of the realm pervades the very ground they walk.

That would help a lot in the faction differentiation stuff.

Yea I like the Idea of Magnar having cracked, reddish, volcanic lands ...

While Resolyn's lands can be a bleak pitch of blackish gray. With the trees more withered than not. Perhaps even a greenish or brackish hue to rivers in the lands of Resolyn.

Umber can use default, while Kraxis lands can be a bit sandier, still dark but tan and brownish. (not quite as empty as the badlands, but with a similar color scheme perhaps? And a bit of grays to complement the sandy brown)

Trog's lands could almost be kingdom-like ... but with a dark shadowy overtone. (Shadows over a plentiful meadow). And perhaps their fields of green could be stained with streaks of blood here and there, with rotting corpses dotting the landscape.

It would certainly help with differentiation, yes. As well as making our own factions more distinct. I usually play a faction with a lore as being based in some desert or another - it makes sense to have a desert to return to. No added stats (ie, if Tarth did get more forests, they wouldn't be ones that you could build upon) but just a cosmetic thing.

Be interesting, too, to see how each person is shaping the world into their own design. Do we see the sprawling forests of Tarth? Perhaps a whole continent turning into a desert, or a swamp, or even the traditionally bright Kingdom or traditionally dark Empire lands.

I remember a mod for WoM that gave Pariden snowy domain, and other factions had their own domains. The White Wizard, for one, was a totally unique faction, based on building golems to fight with and a sprawling tundra.

A race editor, while certainly it ought be secondary, would be rather nifty as well.
