Sadly, we don't really have enough people around to make playing mods viable, at least for games without AI.  I'm guessing that the most popular mods are Distant Stars and the Star Trek mod Sacrifice of the Angels 2.

There's really no way to figure out which is the most popular / most played.  Everyone has their own opinion.

Fortunately, it's not a competition so like in the special classes, everybody wins.  =P

A lot of people online play the one hit - one kill mod.  Each ship and factory and everything builds 20x faster, is 20x cheaper, but only has 1 serviceable hp.  Game on.  The only thing that remains the same is planet hp.

I love the Distant Stars mod. So many benefits and I can't live without the combat graphics overhaul.
