Pix for icons in fences not filled in

I have the free version of Fences installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system.  The system has two monitors but the (6) fences are all displayed on the main monitor.  If I:

   1) Double-click on the desktop to hide all the fences

   2) Reboot (system comes up without fences showing, fine...)

   3) Double-click on the desktop to show the fences

All the icons are shown with the "default" picture.  As I move the mouse over the icons they are refreshed to their proper value - or - if I hit F5 to refresh he desktop all the icons are refreshed to their proper value.

I often see this same effect when I double-click to hide/show all fences with no rebooting.  In this case some of the icons will be OK and others will not.

Let me know if you need more info.

If, when the icons are the default, you unload Fences, what happens?

Unload Fences?  Do you mean un-install?  If so, can I save my current fences definitions somehow and restore them on a re-install?

Also, one thing I didn't make clear on the initial post relates to the situation where icon pix can be lost without a reboot.  This does not happen if you double-click to hide and then immediately double-click to show.  It only happens when some time has passed while the fences are hidden and various apps have been run.  I haven't tried to narrow down the circumstances that cause this.

The effect of Hide-Reboot-Show does consistently lose the icon pix (until an F5 desktop refresh  - or - single icon pix are restored if the mouse pointer passes over them).

End of Fences7415's quote
Snapshots can be backed up before uninstalling . . but don't need to be for this test.

OK, After a reboot I double-click on the desktop to show the fences (with the missing icon pix).  I then right-click on the desktop and pick "Configure Fences..." and as soon as the Fences config window is displayed all the left-hand icons in each fence get filled in, very strange!  Then if I uncheck config option "Enable Fences" the remaining icons gett filled in.

The config window I see is different than your screen-shot above, that's why I didn't notice the "Enable Fences" right away, it was under the "More Tools" section.  I'm using the free version v1.00.2787 and when I choose "Check for updates" I'm told I'm "Up to date".

Thanks for your quick response...

I don't think that's the most recent free version.

Uninstall, run  http://sd.stardock.com/curtHendzell/clear_fences_settings.reg and then reinstall from http://download.cnet.com/Fences/3000-2072_4-10909535.html

OK - Doing the uninstall/download/install did the trick.  I guess the "Check For Updates" wasn't working in the version I was using.

Before un-installing I took a snapshot and saved it elsewhere. After the install I moved it to the new "Backups" folder and had no problem restoring the old layout.

Thanks again for the quick response...
