Mod Music Choosing

Hi, I'm not sure how Sins randomizes it's music. But I have been playing for a few hours with my own music over the original, and now that there are distinct tracks I notice that I'm constantly have the same 2 or 3 tracks playing over an over again. Other ones play sometimes, but with very little frequency.

Is there a way to try and make Sins music selection more random? Because I would appreciate it a lot.

Sins only has a certain selection of tracks loaded at any one time, which cover a broad base of situations (combat, quite, winning, losing etc.). It won't start playing a new song unless the game determines the atmosphere has changed enough to create a new category, or until it finishes the old track, in which it will play another track it thinks is suitable for the atmosphere. If you have very long tracks like I do it may indeed seem that it doesn't change much (keep in mind the default music is only 1-2 minutes per track).

Otherwise, look in the SoundMusic.sounddata file, and mess with the numbers there because you must not have enough music for all atmospheres, causing it to play only what it has.

What program do I use to open the sounddata file?

Notepad or any text editor of your choice.

Okay, I see them now...

Now I just have no idea what to do with them...

I can see that all of the battle tracks (the ones I really care about) all share identical numbers. How would I change them around to produce the desired effect? All of this action range stuff is going right over my head, I'm no modder, lol

What is isLooping btw?

I'm sorry for troubling you, I'm just trying to get a grip on the meaning of all of this.

No need for sorry, thats what the forum is for.

isLopping means the song will not end or continually loop. If its a battle track, once it starts it will be the only battle track.

use the Dev exe located in sins root install directory. It has a music view option that shows the different values the song is played from. Different players emotions are slightly different so what works for one race will not work the same for another.

Values that are the same for a battle track example will just skip to the next battle song when the other is finished.

I always play as the TEC, so it's not a problem that it won't work for other races. I'll try it out and see what I can do.

Thanks.

Okay, I opened the dev. But how do I turn fullscreen on? It's in windowed mode... and some of the parts are getting cut off.

Never mind, I got it. Bu how do I turn on the music viewer your talking about?

none of the dev is mouse. use keyboard keys

CTRL + SHIFT + .

This is the primary control menu, almost all of the functions of the Dev.exe are accessed through it.

I am not opening so just a guess at press f for sound and then press c  to open show music

press comma to go to previous menu
