[Bug] Abeix untargettable by spells

I got in a fight with Abeix.  He lives down in a trench.  Unfortunately, trench tiles are untargettable by spells, which means that there's no way to use spells against him either.

Just to make it worse, I tried to get around this by casting an area-effect spell (fireball) on a targettable tile next to him.  This didn't work either, and there's no way to abort a spell with charge time when it's time to cast it, which meant that I was stuck and could only continue the battle by hitting the auto-resolve button.  2 bugs for the price of one.
