[0.77][Balance/ai issue?] Umber Dead on Turn 11?

So turn 11 in my new game of 0.77 and Umber is dead at the start of turn 11. No clue what happened... But yeah stone cold dead. Challenging difficulty, normal monster count. Large map. All factions included.

This is followed by Kraxis wiped out on turn 58. This time I was paying attention and he was taken out by monsters and ruffians. Is the AI up to handling the more aggressive monsters?
