Doesnt work

why

Specs:

amd phenom 2/6gigs ddr3 ram/GTX 580 GPU/Windows 7 x64 home premium SP1

i purchased deskscapes a while back. it used to work before SP1, but i later did a reformat and never installed it again until now and since then i have installed SP1 service pack.

i click on background and apply. my wallpaper goes black, screen flashes and nothing. On some dreams it shows a pop up that says something about mpeg 2 encoder not found or some such nonsense (i can watch dvd's just fine). So i tried installing Sharky's codec pack and no help.

Here is my about page.

On a 64 bit OS you need 64 bit video decoders to play a video dream on the desktop (32 bit for the preview).  Most third party DVD players supply 32 bit only as they are 32 bit apps which is why playing a DVD can work while DeskScapes would not.

However Windows 7 comes with the right decoders and unless you installed a codec pack they should be automatically used.

One thing to try is to make sure you have installed the latest DirectX files as the problem may be being caused by that.

To rule out the video decoder, try applying the Vintage dream included with DeskScapes as this is not a video.
