Downloads question

I have an internet connection that is somewhat bandwidth limited.  I can download the beta but given my bandwidth is on a monthly deal I can't keep downloading 2 gigs.  Plus my flatmate would somewhat kill me if I did since we share the connection.

So my question is this - how often will the game be updated?  Also will the updates require a complete reinstall or will they be a few hundred megs patches?  I can probably only do one big download a month and so don't want to do it and find a monster update the following day (making my testing obselete).

Let me know.

Thanks

There is only one solution to your problem - you have to kill your flatmate before he kills you! Then you will have all the bandwidth for yourself, with all the FE goodness flowing to you with full speed!

I agree with this conclusion. I also know a guy. Send me a PM for details.

Killing your flatmate is the best solution of course, but to answer your question I don't think you'll ever need a complete reinstall (I don't recall that even being the case with the GalCiv beta's). Looking at how complete the game already is I don't expect patches to be hundreds of MB's. Most of the big content is there already. There will be the occasional bigger patch, but not that often. Looking at Stardock's record I suspect weekly/two weekly patches with mostly bugfixes.

ATM, the plan is patch/update installs over the [large] beta1 base.
