Stardock Central Hangs after installing new build.

When I started Stardock Central Today, it said there is a new "version" should I update? I clicked yes and it asked if it should create a restore point. I clicked yes again and then Stardock downloaded and created a restore point(that is what the message window said, I assumed it was archiving the previous version), then Stardock Central said it need to restart, so it shut down and restarted itself. After it restarted itself, everything seemed fine. I closed Stardock Central(no problems)and restarted my computer.(A habit I have from Win98).

After rebooting, I opened Stardock Central, clicked on Skins and Themes and clicked on update manager to get the updates for today. It updated and I saw a skin I wanted. I downloaded the file and clicked on install and nothing happened. (usually I get a confirmed message). I tried applying the bootskin and it gave me an error message that the bootskin program was not installed.(It is and nothing had changed on it since I last Updated Stardock Central.)

I attempted to close Stardock Central and I am now getting a error messaging stating that Wincustom is currently processing skin updates. Am I sure I want to quit? I clicked no and checked Wincustom Browser and nothing is happening on it. I manually clicked to update skins and it does and says 100% complete. and I checked the new skins. I attempted to exit Stardock Central again and get the same error message. I click yes this time and it hangs..........

I attempt to close through Task Manager and when TM comes up it states that Stardock Central is unresponsive. So I ended it. I rebooted my computer and reopened Stardock Central, I get the same error when trying to exit it again. I attempt to restore the archive I thought it made. But I cannot find it. All the others are there, but not Stardock Central. The version it updated to is Version 2.00.294 Build 60.

The restore point was not created in XP, I assumed the restore point it said it was creating was archiving the previous Stardock Central.

Anybody else having this problem? Stardock Central was just getting good in integrating all the programs. (Such as the bootskins program). Any thoughts?

Thanx,Ladysarajane

The restore file you're looking for is in the SDCentral folder.

Thanks!

I was looking everywhere, but the most obvious place!
In Stardock Central, I was trying to go under file->restore archive and could never find a previous Stardock Central But as you pointed out, the restore program is in the Stardock Central Folder itself. I think I used up all my common sense on that thing yesterday and had a mental block.

Now I am back to build 58, and it doesn't hang any more, but after downloading a bootskin, Stardock Central still cannot find it to install it to. I tried reinstalling Bootskins without sucess.

I don't know if that is the most obvious place, I may never have looked there if I hadn't seen a previous comment about it...

but after downloading a bootskin, Stardock Central still cannot find it to install it to. I tried reinstalling Bootskins without sucess.

Can't help with that......I've never used SDC for that, I still do things the old way, manually downloading and installing things myself. I use SDC to keep up with the messageboards, to update the programs, and little else. Sorry.....

I was so confused when I first got Object Desktop. They had everything installed in different places and one program could not see another one.
Stardock Central has improved Object Desktop, by making files in one central place. Themes are a lot easier to download and apply etc. Bootskins has always been a problem because it is not officially supported by Stardock. I find it is a great way to change the Boot file without messing with the original file. . I loved the BSOD one! That got my Mom. She thought the computer was done for!

Stardock Central must have some kind of bug in the new build. It is not perfect, but a great deal better than what it was last December.
