IMPORTANT! 2v2 tourney: rules and schedule discussion

Okay, several points I want to have the vox populi upon, before we start this,

1. The suggested DG picks system is the one that was used for a 2010 3v3 tourney, in a slightly modified form. Which means, essentially: each team can have a total of 4 points with no doubles, according to the following list: UB, Rook, Oak, Erb - 3 pts; Sed, QoT, Occ, TB - 2 pts; DA, Reg - 1 pt.

Q: Everyone happy with this for 2v2? I, for one, would have probably moved Erb to 2 pts division, and Occ to 3 pts. The rationale: in 2v2 the lvl'ing is naturally much faster, so Occ hits 15 significantly earlier - and lvl 15+ Occ is a catastrophe (especially with a uberfixed Brain Storm!); probably the absolutely best 2v2 combo within the framework of original rules is Occ+Sed -- this change will disable it.

2. The suggested team registration system is a non-random pre-registred teams. In other words, if I am going to play with Mythrandar, I should post this info in the registration thread.

Q1: There were several suggestions to randomize the teams. I'm strictly opposed to that: that would make the winning pair random, so we might as well randomize the win, and bypass the tourney phase altogether. Still, perhaps that's what people want. Speak up.

Q2: Should DGs played be tied to particular players in teams registration? For example: IN1 (Sed) + Myth (TB).

3. The schedule: my suggestion is to have it over the course of several EU late evenings/nights. The players that will register for the tourney are, basically, the same people that play almost every evening anyway.

Q: Any reasonable alternative suggestions are welcome.

Use the search function, you can find the full discussion of DG ratings in a relevant thread from 2010. Rook is 3 points on Cata, no doubt about that.

i don' think it is a good idea that demigods be tied to players however that means we will have to find someway to determine which teams picks first and which second

Also a bit off topic, did you study in litterature?

I also happen to consider that a bad idea, but perhaps people think otherwise.

Eh... In a way, yes. My BA was in Comparative Literature/Linguistics, indeed.

1. I agree for the change you proposed.

2. I dont agree to predefined player-teams. We should randomize all participants, at least to draw fixed pairs which would play till the end. There would be no incentive for new players to join otherwise. Also, DG should not be tied to the players, but should be posted before the game. 1st post by one player from one team then two from opponent team, then last player from first team.

3. timeframe is good. EU evenings unless players agree for other time. One postponement possible, second wins match for the team that is available. All times posted as GMT times to evade the misunderstandings.

4. How do we go with rewards and participation fees? Can we get Stardock to give participants a few Fallen Enchantress Beta participations (without getting the game for free when it goes out?). Also, some deals on the Demigod game (so we can propagate it to our friends?). Any other games - like Sins full edition?

I wouldn't have anything against participation fee, I just wonder where would it go for? Can we put that fee towards new maps for Demigod or even new demigods? Or a patch to update the game with all the good mods out there?

Just a few ramblings...

as for the demigod restrictions i would like if they were to be a little mroe friendly towards lord erebus and oak since all the combo you can do with them at the moment are pretty bad.

Well, the second possibility is to restrict the combos without assigning fixed weights to personal DGs. That was done during a 2v2 tourney in the past. This option actually allows for more fine tuning, is less rigid, and, therefore, is probably preferable. Take the 3 pt. gods, for example: Erb can combo with Reg, DA, TB, Sed; Oak can combo with Reg, DA, TB; UB and Rook can combo with Reg & DA only, etc. Of course, this should come in the form of a table for easy reference.
