The ordinal 345 could not be located in the dynamic link libarary COMCTL32.dll

I did a fresh install of Win XP and downloaded Dreamscapes (Paid version). When I tried to install it told me it needed Vista or higher but still installed. however, when I tried to run it I got the "The ordinal 345 could not be located in the dynamic link libarary COMCTL32.dll" error message. What do I do now? Can't find a solution either here or by goggling it.Please help!

Dreamscapes wasn't made for XP, only Vista or above. There is nothing you can do to get it to work on Windows XP.

I meant Deskscapes, not dreamscapes. sorry. Deskscapes is XP comatible. It ran well before. I downloaded the full install right from the Stardock website.

It says "DeskScapes200_enhanced.exe". got it from where I retrived my serial number on support page. Also, ran sfc. all was well. did try the trial version as well. same result

It looks like you bought DeskScapes back in 2008.  Is that correct?

Somehow I doubt you have an easy time event when it's warm.

I think you need a slightly later 2.x version or 3.x for XP support which is why the installer said Vista was needed.

Your best bet is to install Impulse and use that to install the 2.x version as it looks like the standalone installer is older than it should be.

Thank you Neil. Where the heck do I find it? I've looked here. Am I missing it?

Impulse is now called GameStop. You should be able to find it on there.
