WB not correct on dopus 10

Hello,

I just brought WB and am trying to get it to work with Directory Opus 10 but can't seem to get it correct, can someone help me pls ?

I want to add the theme's shape and pattern to the toolbars and add background color to explorer's window, I read about compatibility setup for opus but can't seem to find anything.

WIN 7x64

Thanks

Hi brunohands, not sure regarding any specific information to opus10 however, generally speaking WB only applies the skin, the skin is created with skinstudio. not all programs work well with wb (ms office and outlook to mention two). hopefully someone that has opus can give you better answer for this specific program.

Hi gmc2, thank you

But i think there's something not right here because the skin looks very different in win explorer exaclty like it is supposed to be, check screens so I guess I'm not missing any stardock program, I've got object desktop but only installed WB

Every thing is ok on this one although I also want to include background to the left pane

End of brunohands's quote

don't think so. believe that only a solid color is available for that section. You might see if you change the color with the color selector from WB, otherwise it can only be changed via sks. bummer eh.

Greg is right. The left pane is hard coded by MS, not a program problem related to DOpus.

That's ok, I only added this background for example, I want to color it with only one color. Apart from that issue I can't get WB to modifiy buttons or toolbars

I noticed that the program was installed in the x86 folder, is this correct as my system is Win7 64 bit ?

I also tried the solution below I read in another thread and it seems to be better now with more WB details but still no buttons or black pattern toolbar

Any ideas ?

Quoting chillychan,
Here's a temp fix that works great.

1. Reboot into Safe Mode so that you can edit WindowBlinds' files.

2. Backup 'wblind.dll' or 'wblind64.dll' for 64-bit Windows. (By default, the files are in 'C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds')

3. Depending on your Windows, open either 'wblind.dll' or 'wblind64.dll' in a hex editor and look for 'DOPUS.EXE'.

4. When you find it, edit it to something like 'AAAAA.AAA'. You can put in anything but make sure you only edit the spaces for 'DOPUS.EXE' and nothing else.

5. Save the file & reboot. You'll see that DOpus is now being skinned.

The downside is you'll have to repeat the above steps whenever you update WB but it's not like WB is updated daily so no worries.

Tried these changes (to see if DoPus would get skinned) and got some really BAD results ...

Stopped WindowBlinds.

Copied the DLL file to another directory.  Opened it using WordPad and found the DOPUS.EXE string. Changed that to AAAAA.AAA. Saved the changed file.

Went into Program Files and renamed the wblind.dll to wblind.dlo.

Copied the modified DLL file into Program Files ...

Restarted WindowBlinds ... got repeated popups about file changes preventing it from launching.

Restarted laptop. When back into Win7, got same popups.  When done cancelling them all, it was aparent that WB was not running.

Undid what I did, restoring original DLL file, rebooted.  WB OK again.

So, has this been "fixed" in WB so that this hack no longer works?

WB info is as follows:

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.3 (build 310 - Windows 7 Edition)

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC
WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

The problem is being/has been fixed as we speak and after testing, should be in an update to WB soon.

Please note that even after the upcoming update the background texture will not be applied to the folder views in Directory Opus.

This is because that is a feature for Windows Explorer windows only.

Regarding applying the texture to the left pane of Explorer, this is currently not possible.

I think Bruno already knows this from the Opus forum but, in case it's useful to anyone else, here's a guide to configuring background images in Opus.

The toolbars use the visual style's toolbar theme by default, but you can tell Opus to use any color or bitmap instead. The file display and folder tree backgrounds can also be configured.

Images can be aligned to edges, stretched, tiled or shared across the whole window. Here's a silly example: :-)
