I cannot play Trinity from Steam at all

Stardock Support cannot figure out my problem.

So, I have Windows 7 x64 and I recently bought the game. I had the opportunity to play the game on this machine before a couple years ago, but I decided to buy it through steam instead of finding the disks. After downloading, I get a prompt by this window called 'Stardock Account Registration'. There are 3 boxes I need to fill out: Stardock Account Email, Password, and Serial. I obtain my serial by right-clicking the game on Steam to view the key. I already had a Stardock account Email.

So, I fill those boxes out and I have to options: Quit and Register. I click Register, NOTHING happens at all. No error, no spinning wheel or any network activity from the program; nothing happens.

I have tried running the program in Compatibility mode, allowed the program through my firewall, made up random information, NOTHING. I also can make a new account in the program and clicking register through that only makes the program flicker.

I sent a video to Stardock support and they are stumped. I really want this game to work, but I don't know what else I can do.

Also, disconnecting my internet gives me an error, but no activation alternatives other  than contacting support@stardock.com like I already did...

Any ideas?

I don't know if this was the problem, but running the sins .exe directly instead of through steam seemed to work for some people having problems.

This actually opens up the Game launcher, letting me choose from Play and Chapter. However, after selecting it, the Stardock Account Registration pops up again; causing me into a roadblock. I fill out all the info; but, nothing happens when clicking register.... :(

I appreciate the replies, but I contacted them first. They do not know the answer.

Have you tried re-downloading? Also, as silly as it seems it has been mentioned elsewhere on the forum to copy and paste your serial in instead of typing it.

Well then they should be doing something to fix the issue... at least I would hope that's what support will do.

They were helping, but could not figure it out.

I have redownloaded it several times.

I found a fix. Just copy/extract these two files into the game directory; overwriting the existing. These two files are an OLDER activator that worked flawlessly for me.

Hopefully others will find this: [removed]

While you certainly seem to be well-intentioned, and while I'm not trying to be overly suspicious, I have strong reservations about anyone downloading executable files from file-hosting sites over the internet from someone they don't know...

Do you know if the problem can be fixed simply by deleting the SDActivate.exe and reverifying?

I downloaded an older version of the game (1.32) and installed it. I then copied SDActivate.exe and SDActivate.lang out and uninstalled it. I then downloaded the newer 1.34 version from Stardock and copied and replaced the existing SDActivate with the ones from 1.32.

It worked! I do not distribute Malware. -_-

I uploaded the file myself.

Having exactly the same problem. Can't launch the game AT ALL from Steam.

Noticed I can download the game directly from my Stardsock account. Good. Won't bother with steam anymore.

We only offer the latest version of the game, which means this "older version" has to have come from another source than those we provide. In which case (despite your intentions) you really have no idea what is or isn't in it. Linking and recommending such files is not acceptable.

Correct. Depending on the source of the 'older' game it could also be very illegal, despite your best intentions.

letting us know that it worked does give us good information though.  Thanks!

Managed to fix this after deleting folder "C:/Programdata/Ironclad Games"

Then I reactivated the game and it runs fine now. No need to run exe files out of Steam now.

I tried that. My problem was the activation software just wouldn't work. I tried an older version and that fixed it.

I have the exact same problem with activation and have tried everything that has been said here.  Like TRICKY, I also had to get SDActivate.exe and SDActivate.lng from an older version of the game to get it to activate.

I am having the same problem.

I don't have an older version of the game to copy the SDActivate files from.

I'm also on an extended vacation in the Caribbean and cannot afford to re-download the game.  Does anyone have any suggestions for forcing the alternate activation?

If they have been dealing with this problem, they might have a solution for you that will be legit and fairly easy to follow.
