Need Help Catching UP

Hello,

It has been over a year since I used Object Desk on my XP Pro computer because it was failing badly.  I have used a program called PCMover to move all my application installs and data files to a brand new Windows 7 Professional computer.

I haven't started any of the programs yet as I wanted to come here first. So do we still use Impulse to update Object Desk, Window Blinds, etc?

You probably won't be able to restore archives with GameStop (Impulse was sold and app renamed).... if your new machine has a different OS.

You can read more about the topic here:  https://forums.wincustomize.com/409931

Log in, your updates should be there.
End of RedneckDude's quote

DO NOT update Windowblinds from this link. Or any program for that matter. You're better off backing up all the skins, etc. and then uninstalling the programs (I recommended using Revo Uninstaller if Impulse will not remove anything)- THEN do a fresh install from the link Redneck provided.

I updated Windowblinds from the store and it made a mess of my Windows7 PC. Several other folks ran into similar issues. You will be much better off doing a clean install of everything after you delete whatever version you have on the PC.

Very good advice from PoSmedley when moving to a new computer and new OS.

New computer and new OS?

On the old one any updating should be done with uninstalling through GameStop (Impulse).

On the new one? Opt for clean install via the link in RedneckDude's link.

Many of the skins have been updated for Windows 7. So, pick and choose. Any Masterskins purchased through Maxstyles... save receipt emails and

transfer to the new system... same as any receipts from Stardock (although they are part of Stardock's records, having proof never hurt).

Finally, If you're concerned about Registry keys being left over, after uninstalling, run ccleaner's registry tool, but make a backup of the registry and a restore point before uninstalling, and cleaning the registry.

Just remember thought if you have a new or renewed subscription Impulse won't work with it.

Thanks DrJBHL, good advice.

I'm going to print out for bed time reading.

Not going to get in a hurry.

Microsoft Office 2007 is already messed up, said i needed to activate and that failed on Internet and telephone. said it was not a valid product key, got it from Microsoft Launch Tour 2007 many years ago and has never had an authentification issue before.
