Crackling Sound while playing Sins Of A Solar Empire

Hiya

I recently re-downloaded Sins of a Solar Empire because I felt the nerve to play it.  Everything went smoothly, including the updates, until I got around to actually starting up the game. Every time I would move the mouse over button icons or click on the sound of them normally would reverberate irregularly through my speakers. Glitchy music appears to be present as well. This problem never happened a month or so ago when I still had it on my computer.  I have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it.  The crackling sound only happens for this game, as i play both WoW and Starcraft II with no issues.  My computer is mostly at the recommended requirements for this game.  Could it have something to do with the sound hardware I have?  Or maybe a problem with the installation of the game perhaps?

Does it happen when you try to open the audio files outside of the game?

C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire - Trinity\Sound

That could identify if it's something to do with your computer or if it's a problem with Sins.

It's me.  I've been hiding under your bed popping bubble-wrap.  I'm sorry.

The Sins sound files are in .ogg format. Windows Media player cannot play them by default, but other media players like winamp can.

Further, I advise that the Devs add custom map sharing to Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion.

Sounds like it. Try verifying the install via Impulse.

When i tried Verifying Sins via Impulse, a window popped up and said " The game is not installed correctly. Please look for an application update." turns out there was an update for it (which is wierd b/c i know i already updated it yesterday when i downloaded it). I then tried to verify it and a window popped up that said "The game was installed correctly." but the reverberating noise persisted once i got to the Sins menu screen.

You should probably redo your installation then.  Something is screwy so it's probably best just to uninstall and get rid of everything and reinstall it clean.

I reinstalled it but to no avail, I'm still hearing the reverberating noise. But the noise seems to happen alot less now, mostly when I'm getting lagg in-game.
