Uhm Impulse???

Ok I have to admit I dont like or support gamestop.  But has anyone else had there account deactivated or something as I cant login to impulse at all.  I am concerned about this as I pre-ordered Elemental and want to make sure I can get FE when the beta hits.  Does anyone have any ideas???

Impulse is now called Gamestop PC app, try that.    Enjoy the constant ads and confusing interface.

I had to sign in with my email, rather than my nic.

Gamestop does a great job to ruin impulse reputation step by step. Example: People, who bought sengoku (new paradox game) had to wait over 1 week for the new patch.

Same. The new forced ads are just sad. No reason to start Impulse any longer, unless there happens to be an update to something.

Lantros, you did pass that along to the Gamestop folks?  Hearing from their customer base, if anything can be turned around, is the only way it will happen.

No, i haven´t. Haven´t bought sengoku yet. And i won´t buy it on impulse. Its dead for me since SD sold it. But i´m a PI fan (owner of V2, EUIII, PoN) and i regular check their forum and i have a close eye on sengoku, but there is a hole in my pocket at the moment. ;)

Long story short... I´m not part of the impulse customer base anymore. Thats why i don´t report anything. :)

Well speaking about Impulse, can it be uninstall without having all OD apps which have been installed with it uninstalled ???(ii so how to re install them as they are in .impulse format ?? and not always the latest versions of each app ? )

And will the D/L folder of all OD apps archieve will be deleted if uninstalling Impulse ?

I was able to uninstall Impulse without any problems neophil78. I use Revo uninstaller to do it just to make sure all the elements were gone.

Yes: Impulse is just Impulse, it won't uninstall any other software when removed.

If it doesn't run or take up space, why not keep it? You will need it to restore any of your .impulse format back-ups. At least keep a copy of the Impulse installer, if you need to restore anything you can reinstall Impulse. At some point down the road when these archives no longer work, then dump the whole mess, at least that's my plan.

Yes: Back those up somewhere. In Win7 they are here:  C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Impulse\backup

For latest versions to back up, just download them from your store account and save them.

I hope this answers your questions.

The last time I used the "restore from archive" function, it worked normally. I've never tried an off-line restore but have been told it will work.

If this is not the case now, I hope Support will correct me.

Thanks finally tried email addy and it worked.  Sent 2 different requests for password reset and havent gotten any.  I know this is the right email as I get there spam regularly.  I hated losing Impulse but since its the only way to get Fallen Enchantress when its available I guess i will keep it until thats out.  I hope Stardock can and will get out of Gameslop soon and have more of there games available elsewhere.

FE will still be on Impulse (though maybe not the beta).

You don't HAVE to give up Impulse.

Bought two games on Impulse since it went to Gamestop (including one just today because of a sale).  Both times I got a "Your order has been added the the processing queue.  It will be processed sometime in the next day."  And it actually has taken hours to process.  In the time that Amazon can MAIL me an item Gamestop can't even process my f***ing credit card.

I'm done with Impulse.

It's amazing to me that they can screw up something as fundamental as delivery of the product. It's like they're in love with making people wait for something they bought.

If that's how they plan to handle their presence in the DD market, they're going to be about as successful as their brick and mortar stores are.

Support won't : as soon as your OD subscription for year 2011 expire (even if you renew your OD subscription) Impulse doesn't take care of you anymore and you can't update/install/restore anything

See thread https://forums.wincustomize.com/412706/page/3/#3010825 where Neil Banfield is answering but seem to don't know the problem

Nenjin: Their Brick and Mortar is successful right now- but only because of the used game market.

That said,  I do see a bad end for Gamestop by the end of this decade- once they get locked out of the console market, which I suspect will happen next-gen, they're the next Circuit City.

That said, this won't be a win for consumers in the long-term.

Why not?   With Gamestop dead'n'buried, game sales moving to digital and STEAM having us by the balls with their $ = euro scam, what's to fear??

Oh....o_O

But really, what's so bad about Gamestop dying?

Consumers do benefit some from a used game market.  No Gamestop means the used game market has been eliminated.

Companies are not going to pass their benefits onto the consumer.

Brad must have wanted more money to include the instruction manual to run Impulse and they passed on it. Did it even occur to Gamestop that it wasn't just the platform but the people behind it actually giving a crap about the customer and company perception?

I've got no less than 3 mom and pop used video game stores in my town. The market can easily fill the gap left behind by Gamestop, and it'll probably do it in a way that's more equitable to gamers in general.

I'm actually in favor of that. No more buy-a-game-and-pass-it-around-like-a-drunk-chick. Now everybody have to do it the way I've been doing it for the last 7 years. Why should others get of easier than I do?

I know it sounds "evil" and such but it is the cold, hard truth. I'ts like people modding a game to make it easer and then saying they completed it WITHOUT SAYING they modded it!!   That's enough for a punch in the face!   Trying to get internetfame when they don't deserve it! >:(

I almost only buy games of STEAM today (they got me by the balls :S ) and there's it's one purchase = one person playing and I support that.

Even before that, all the games I've bought since 2004 except Heroes III Complete have had some form of online registration to get something extra. Everything from forumthingies, achievements, online play to being able to play the damn game.

  • GalCiv II - Medals & stats
  • WarCraft III & expansion - Access to Battle.Net
  • World of WarCraft - Being able to play the game
  • Universe at War: Earth Assault - GFWL achievements
  • StarCraft II - achievements

As you can see, all of those games you have to buy to get the abovementioned extras.

Can Playstation 3 users of used games still get trophies to their account?   If they can, then that's unfair.

The final reason for me liking this, is that this move might bring more people from consoles to PC since the consoleusers will FINALLY feel the full force of DRM.

....About time!

ps. Al(cohol)stein, are you a furry..?

I hope Gamestop dies. I also hope that any other company that puts the dollar before the user dies along with it in some sort of corporate apocalypse. Capitalism in its most evil incarnation is ruining the gaming industry. There should be laws against C&C4!
