Removing Default Shell stuff from WindowBlinds skins

I used to run pretty lean on the number of skins I had installed at any time... but recently I've been changing WB skins a lot more often (cheers GUIO! ) and I want to clean up the number of "Default Shell Toolbar/Animation" entries in the WBConfig dialog. I'm also planning on fixing the description for those who forgot to enter them...

As an OD subscriber I have the latest WindowBlinds and SkinStudioPro installed. I've tried deleting the relevant Shell Animations and Toolbar Icons sections in a couple of skins using SS, but they seem to be a little more persistent than that an keep coming back.

Can anybody help me with this? Do I need to manually clean up UIS files etc to be rid of this small annoyance?

Toolbar icons and Shell Animations are a mandatory part of a Windowblind skin. This is because it is a mandatory part of the Windows OS. If the skin doesn't have customized Shell or Toolbar, this is why the default keeps coming back. If you go too far, you might break the skin, windowblinds, or your OS.

Maybe someone can come along and tell you how to hack it out, but you know what happens when you start hacking your system...System instability... crashes....dumb system won't start....

Yeah... it makes sense that the section is an inherent part of the 4.3 skinning system... but...

Some skins that do not have their own toolbars/animations just have the contents of those sections in SkinStudio greyed out. They have not had to import the "default" ones just because they didn't design their own. That's what I'm hoping to clean up

Maybe these skins were made in a earlier version of SkinStudio, in which case I may be a bit stuffed. But I'll wait patiently to see if anybody else has some ideas...

For what it's worth, I've cleaned my Toolbar/Animation dialog entries.

It worked for me, but I'll not be responsible for any mishaps on your part.

I went through all my WB skins folder, and found files that didn't need to be there. Skins that had no toolbar icons, would have files named something like subskin.ToolbarIcons, or Luna.ToolbarIcons, and even nameofskin.Subskin.ToolbarIcons. (some folders had more than one) You get the idea. The point is, there shouldn't be any .ToolbarIcons files in these folders.

The same thing goes for animations.

I simply send them to the recycle bin. My Toolbar Icons/Animations list in WB config is correct, and free of clutter.

If you want to go through all the skin folders that do not use those images and clean them up, you can probably do that. But, if you open skin studio and click on those areas, the default images will be created.

You beat me by three minutes. lol. That is what I was thinking too. What happens if the images are referenced in the uis files and they are there. It might effect the skins performance and probably definitely add a error message to the Skin Studio analysis.

Not unless you add the attribute.

Thus far I've notice no problems with performance, and in the skins I've tested since doing this, none have produced any errors in SKS analysis.

RE #3: Cheers Koasati - that seems to do the trick here as well!

I meant what happens if the file is referenced in the uis file and they aren't in the folder. That would likely produce an error.

It will default to the Luna stuff Same thing as if someone made a goof in building a skin.
