Modding the Borg in Twilight of the Arnor

I have seen ship models, racial pictures, even a tech tree. However, being pretty new to this community, I have not seen an assimilation technology/component (does culture flipping count). Could a ground force unit be used to gradually flip a planet (like culture flipping)? I do not want the Borg cube itself to do the culture flipping, but a ground unit if possible. I would want the Borg to be the only race to 'culture flip'. To balance it out, their cubes would be veeeery expensive, they would be despised be the other races. As a result, trade would stink and income would be reduced. The Borg innate research would stink, but would have additional 'assimilation drones (spies)' to steal tech.

How would these ideas to implemented?

Thanks in advance!

Doing this is beyond the capacity of modding for this game, I think.

Thanks for the reply, qrtxian. What is the closest I could get modding the Borg? If I understand correctly, Stardock may still be working on supporting Gal Civ II, so this could be implemented in a patch (please)?

Highly unlikely; something like that would practically require an entirely new expansion.  The "patch" that may or may not still be coming is simply about bugfixes-and the nonexistence of a feature as complex as that is likely to be can't exactly be called a bug.

Sorry :)

You might actually be better off trying something like this in Sins of a Solar Empire, although it's been a while since I played it as well.  At least there ships aren't as freeform in GC2-your concept of only expensive ships would be almost impossible to set up in GC2's engine, particularly with all the tech-trading going on.

How about removing the influence techs from all Twilight of the Arnor tech trees except the Borg (Yor) one. Run the game without an influence vicotry? Give them an influence bonus as well? Any thoughts?

Also, could the attack strength of the peacekeepers and the dreadlord megaevents be increased to pose more of a challenge?

Thanks again!

Mega events cannot be modded except for the text and images. Frankly, if they could be, I'd say that would actually be the best way to mod in the Borg - in my opinion, they and most other hostile super-races from fiction make much more sense as a random menace then as a playable civilization.

Thanks for replying, qrtxian. I concur. That was my fallback position. I have never run into the Dread Lords/Peacekeepers mega event. I was planning on having the Dread Lords be the Antarans from MoO2/3, and the Peacekeepers be the Binidos (a Borg-like race cut from MoO3). I wanted up the strength of the Dreadlords, so their planet (so I read) could not be taken out with a single transport. I also wanted to use the Borg cube model for the Peacekeepers.

Thoughts?
