Three huge questions, I need help, "PLEASE READ"

Installing Starwars Requiem mod. And doing own mods...

Im new to the game, I have a few noob questions.

1) I installed Sins of a Solar Empire I started the game and I want to install Starwars Requiem, I saved the mod files and patch files to my desktop... Where do a place the files? It said to find the Mod path, I did that but I dont see a mod folder, so do I have to make my own? If so were do I place the files.

2) All I want to do Is run the game with that Starwars Requiem mod. Can you guys send me instructions?

3) If I want to make my own mod, Do I just download the FORGE packs from there main website? Also do you think I would be able to open up the 3d models in a program like Maya?

I apologies if I posted this in the wrong area, but if someone can give me advice id greatly appreciate it.
