Fundamental differences in game play between WOM and FE?

I've been wondering what the differences between these two games are going to be.  Are we still going to be building empires while exploring with our heroes?  What is the ultimate goal in any given game of FE?  Is FE going to be WoM except with more RPG elements?  What are the differences between these two games that will really make it feel as if I'm playing a different game?  Is that even the intention behind FE?  

 

I have lots of questions still...

I keep telling people to expect FE to be an expansion to WoM. It's not going to be a totally different game. From what we've seen so far there's mechanics changing (like traits for unit customization) and others disappearing (dynasties).

Other then that, they're still announcing stuff, so its really hard to give a list.
