Upgrade Existing Units?

Is there a way to upgrade existing units, I'm not seeing anyway to do this? I hate that I have to disband, then build a new unit when better weapons/armor comes along.

No you can't upgrade units. You don't have to disband anything.

The game seems to hardly improved at all, except for stuff that's been removed!
