I'm surprised WC tolerates a few new users hijacking the forum with a bunch of childish BS....
End of navigatsio's quote

Half the reason is that much of this rubbish is in French...and the last time I studied/used it was in 1968.

PARTICULARLY within the "Support Forum" please restrict comments to ENGLISH only, unless the user has a specific problem and no access to a translation service.

Judgemental comments and/or flaming will also not be tolerated.

Also I should point out that the OP was in English so it is ONLY courteous and appropriate to respond to a support query in his/her language used.

Jafo, I can read French pretty well, although I have a hard time writing it, and I can tell you right now that those guys were in NO WAY 'hijacking the forum with a bunch of childish BS'. On the contrary, they were very nice, talking about helping each other and were being pretty ok about WB not having a French language pack.

I do find the 'highjacking' comment pretty insulting, however. Seems to me like someone got pissed off because he couldn't understand what these people were saying. Well, to you I say the world is made up of many languages and nations. Live with it, go learn French, or ignore the threads that you don't understand because you don't speak the language.

To you, Jafo, my apologies for this rant.

To Gilles, Lecajef and his wife Geraldine, as a Portuguese developer making applications used by people all over the world, I can tell you already one of the biggest hurdles of localizing software: it's extremely difficult, if not nearly impossible unless you are a large corporation, to have high quality translations made, keep controlling their quality, and keep them up-to-date as you release new versions. You can, as I did, go the 'user's volunteer the translations' route - in which case quality suffers and the language packs are never up-to-date unless you stop adding new features (ain't gonna happen with Winstep) - or you can spend a fortune hiring professional translators, and then a lot of time waiting on them to bring language packs up-to-date with each new version of the software.

This said, I still think localizing one's software is a lot of work and trouble, but very much worth it.

Ah, and for the 'There is no reason to have a french version of windowblindes avaible, since they make up a small % of our members' comment, that is pretty much a chicken and egg situation. Does 200 million French speakers in the world sound like a small percentage? Perhaps the percentage of French WB users would be MUCH larger if there was actually a French version of WB available to start with. Just saying. :-P

You completely understood us, it is real the language barrier, the fact that sometimes the words are badly interpreted.....

Thank you JcRabbit, to have delayed the subject ......

We are that youngs, we learn(teach) every day a little more, my husband and I because we are given thirst by knowledge!

Well, unfortunately the 'bad vibes' here scared them off. Personally I'm sad to see their now gray, empty, avatars.

Even though I never talked to them until now, their crazy 'typical French' interaction here amused me no end, and it was also a breath of fresh air on this forums.

Me too.  Perhaps they will reconsider?
