Trinity wont start on Win XP

Hello,

I recently bought Sins Trinity and never installed any version or demo of this game before. When I click on it to run; my system goes thru the motions of running it but nothing happens. There are no error messages or or anything on the screen. I don't have any problem with any other game. Here is my system info:

WIN XP SP3 32Bit

AMD 1090T

4 GB RAM

HD 4850

Please help

Thanks

Have you tried going into the Sins of a Solar Empire folder and running the Trinity/Diplomacy.exe directly? Also did you get the game in the store or via digital download?

I got the game from impulse on digital download.

And yes I tried running the game using the exe in the game folder and same result

Hmm, when you try to run it do you see a Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity/Diplomacy.exe in the process tab of task manager? Again when running the .exe directly? Does it go away on its own after it fails to run?

Also you may want try emailing support at sinssupport@stardock.com.

Maybe also try a reinstall.

I have the same problem and nearly the same system. I've tried running the other exes directly, deleting the user.settings file (which another thread said might have been corrupted) and reinstalling. Starting the game creates a process, but no gui launches. The processes don't seem to go away on their own unless I force close them. If I start it with the version specific exes, I can have multiple processes running.

I can't find any error messages or system log events about this anywhere.

I emailed sinssupport. They first closed the ticket with no notification. When I noticed a week later and asked why they just sent a snarky response.   :(

So please post again if you've found something that works.

rozazz & pkoto, have you allowed the sins/entrenchment/diplomacy .exe through your firewall?

Thanks for the idea, harpo. The three exes were already in the firewall exception list. I also tried turning off the firewall completely. Same result.

the next suggestion is to look in the computer management console's event viewer for applications and see if there are any entries relating to sins/trinity, but this is just to see if there is any messaging happening.

Yes... No firewall and still same result. I also looked in the event viewer and there is no mention to anything trinity or Sins related.... I have no idea what to do next :((

sorry, but I have run out of ideas other than the install through impulse, & if thatdoes not work then email support at stardock.com and give them the install key and point them to this thread, but I can not give any further advise , sorry

Did you ever get it to work ?
End of atomantxxx's quote

This is a pretty old thread. Are you having the same problem?

I am also having this exact same issue on a brand new PC. I can't find anything that could be causing it. Going to try a re-install sooner or later. Running Windows 7 64bit on a fresh system (just a few utilities, applications and other games installed thus far).

Did anyone ever have any luck sorting this out?
