[1.20b] Arcane Weapon Overpowered?

1.20b issue. Is this functioning as intended? +5 attack on a 4 man group with 22 attack and it doubles it to 44? I guess that's right if it's hitting each individual with +5. Just wondering if this is overpowered.

4 Staffboys had 22 attack. One +5 arcane weapon on unit doubled attack to 44.

1.20b. Just completed the Silver Flute quest and the arcane weapon buffed group absolutely steamrolled the bandits protecting the flute. Like stealing candy from a baby, or a pony from Lord Xia.

There really needs to be simultaneous damage for attack and counter-attack thereby opening up the possibility of a double-knockout (i.e. both attacker and defender could die). Adding a first strike ability would grant the attacker the opportunity to kill the defender without counter-attack.

This is more evident than ever given the new 4 man squads and arcane weapon buffing each individual in the stack.

I respectfully disagree: Given that the spell book is rather lackluster in terms of a magic-based 4X game, and also given that at early levels the average peasant/observer-style troop would be overpowered by Bandits early on, Enchanted Weapon is (IMO) pretty much the ONLY buff spell worth the Mana.

I played several games with Sovereigns who focus on spells and a few with those Sovereigns who ignore magic. Without the Arcane Weapon enchantment, and with no way to upgrade experienced troops to better counterparts, it made no sense to go out with troops when Heroes not only have more HP, but can increase in their ATT to counter your enemy's increasing DEF. I would essentially sacrifice the increases in food, production, and so on in order to have upgradable, hard-hitting troops. Now, if they put in an upgrade mechanic, I'd be more inclined to agree with you, but would argue that is should be a tactical spell rather than a strategic spell in that case.
