Multiplayer (LAN) not working (disconnected from game server)

When I click on the 'create' button in multiplayer, the option goes gray along with the 'join game' and 'load game' icons on the left of screen. Nothing then happens. If I go back to the menu and come back into multiplayer everything looks fine again but if i press 'create' again, I get a message saying 'Disconnected from game server.'.

A week ago when I played sins with a friend nothing was wrong. There have been no changes to my network, router, firewall settings. I tried removing and then re-installing the game and to no avail.

I have tried everything I can think of and have no ideas left. I purely play this game over the LAN and without a fix this game is useless to me...

Suggestions welcome.

That is a strange one.

What map is trying to load and what do you have for game name?

Can you try selecting a different map then press create?

Can the other comp host and you join that server?

It doesn't matter what map I use it still happens.

We tried the other computer and it starts the host and then i join fine but get disconnected as the game starts.

Also my computer is faster so I think the game usually runs faster if I host...

Are you able to join games over Ironclad Online?

I wonder if this could be some sort of a port forwarding problem.

I am able to join games on Ironclad online

I don't see how it could be a port forwarding problem anyway on a LAN...

There was a game I don't remember what game it was (might have been empire at war) that I couldn't connect to another computer using LAN, even though we were both connected to the same LAN, to connect I had play over the online service.

Updating the firewall or something might have closed ports. Any recent updates?

There have been no recent firewall update.

Just in case this was the issue I turned my firewall off and nothing changed.

I have even run a crossover cable from one computer to the other and also no change.
