Bombers

I haven't played in a while, MP especially. Last time I played, bombers were gods, and Vas bombers were the king of bombers. Is this still the case, or have bombers been balanced so that the 5 skirantra rush is no longer an insti-win for a Vas player? Can fighters actually counter them now?

Also, are caps still more or less big fat targets, or have they been buffed/ lrf+bombers nerfed to the point where they're a viable part of one's strategy? I remember that caps, advent especially, died the moment a decent Vas fleet looked in their direction, never mind whether they had an escort.

The skirantra is significantly nerfed, and fighters are very effective at killing bombers, as long as you are careful about keeping your fighters away from enemy flack.

That said, bombers are still very powerfull, and capital ships are still weak against them.  If you make your fleet in such way that you deter your enemy from building bombers, (by having decent quantites of flack and fighters, and not relying on starbases, youll prolly do decently.  seriously. building starbases is just an invitation for the enemy to build bombers, never give them a reason, and you wont have to worry about them sniping your caps too much.)

What concerns me, is this whole rebellion thing with titans.  I mean, they cant seriously be adding another thing that bombers counter?  I am sure the devs will take steps to keep things balanced.

Well in effect they reduced the number of bomber squads that can be maintained at one time, so scramble bombers is no longer an instant win but its still a big advantage. Multi carrier capital ship starts are still viable though, and bombers swarms are ridiculously effective. In other words its still roughly the same strategies but they are a bit easier to counter, so balanced fleets are reached earlier.
