Portraits not saved when game is loaded

when a horse is equipped. This shows portraits with the horse equipped but not showing in the portrait - which I like.
This picture is after the game is loaded and the game automatically equips the horse in the portraits (doesn't save the portrait), which I don't like. 
I'm so glad other people are posting about portrait bugs. I was beginning to feel I was being anal.
