Can not access display properties - help please

I have only recently purchased object desktop. As such these issues maybe becasue I am new to this product and need a driving lesson. Any help appreciated.

I have so far only installed Windows Blinds 4.2. I selected XP Corona as the skin to try first. I have noticed that the hide system tray icons no longer works, i.e. the sys tray icons don't get hidden if inactive. Is this

1) a feature of windows blinds in general?
2) a feature of only XP Corona?
3) something else that is not working?

I then tried to unload Windows Blinds to get back to the default XP windows to see if the system icons would disapper. This didn't work very well. Window Blinds unloaded, but I was back at Windows XP classic and not lunar. I can not get the display properties window at all. Right click on desktop or via control panel and nothing happens so I not configure my desktop.

I can restart Windows Blinds but still can not get the display window back, right click on desk top select properties still does nothing.

I need help.. Thanks

p.s. I am running Windows XP Pro with SP1

SDC is suddenly not working......... server troubles I'm guessing. That's why your getting the 1001 error, I'm getting it too.... (I really dislike surfing the Messagesboards without it.)

...you're having a hell of a day..

The error in trying to set up Cursor XP could just be a server problem on Stardock's end, plus the latest SDC build is pretty flakey....so just keep trying and I think it will eventually go thru.

Do a search for your Corona Skin...it should be in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds...if it's not, that's why you're not seeing it. Move it to that folder or re-download a fresh copy.

..you're having a hell of a day too....the problem seems to stem from them embedding the User ID/Password in the registry. I got around it earlier by re-entering my password in Edit Account (using IE) and updating, but I somehow think it's moved to a new level of dysfunction....

...a footnote; it appears that a good portion of the servers have gone south. I would imagine the Discussion boards themselves aren't too far from heading in the same direction

I hope Wincustomize isn't on the end of a denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. There seems to be a lot around with MyDoom etc on the loose.

I'll try again later to see is SDC is working normally

Thanks for all the help.

Good news, I've sorted out the various issues:

1) Servers & SDC are working OK now so I have registered and reinstalled my copy of CursorXP. It loaded into a different directory, but I was able to simply copy my cursor themes across.

2) The system tray is now working since I loaded the latest beta version of Windows Blinds. Even Corona XP blind is working with the system tray.

3) After installing the beta Window Blinds several skins disappeared from Window Blinds even though they were still on disk. I had to uninstall and reinstall all the skins to get this working but it is now functioning correctly.

Final question: is it possible to install Logon Studio and Bootskin via SDC? I would then have everything under SDC then. I can not see how to do this.

Many thanks for all the help with my problems.

No... Don't know why, but those 2 do not appear in SDC..

One final suggestion...(if you haven't already done so) Go to Tools > Settings > General tab > scroll down to Archiving, and enable "Automatically archive applications before updating" (very handy to have an automatic backup) On the Advanced tab, you can tell it where to store the Archives.

Thanks Koasati, I've enabled auto archive applications now. Ideally I should have done this before installing the latest beta version of WindowBlinds. But its not caused me any problems.

I think the system tray issue must have been due to a Microsoft setting, maybe a WindowBlind skin changed this, not sure but I found this tool that I intend to purchase in case of future system tray issues:

Taskbar repair tool for XP:
