Desktop Screenshots Help Please

I have to be really stupid but I can't get printscreen button to work and the image manager can't find it. I read somewhere on this site how to do it but I can't seem to do it.I use windowsxp. Your help would really be appreciated. Thanks

Set up desktop to your liking > press PrintScreen button > open image editor > Go to Edit > Paste as a new image > save as jpg.
It's that simple.
