Map editing, nicer random maps, Random seed issues....

Hey all, I just recently upgraded to Ta from DL. As  lot of people, I am incredibly frustrated with the immense map that has far fewer planets than the giant map from DL. I also am irritated at the vast open spaces  on the map, even with every type of map resource maxed and stars at "scattered". After literal hours of searching, I cannot find the solutions to the following issues:

1. I need a decent map editor/generator

2. Is there any way to go into the files and change the random seed for the stock maps?

3. Are there any decent maps out there that take full advantage of the "immense" size that work?

4. How about mods that do decent random maps?

Personally, I like it better this way. Space, as the game tells us repeatedly, is BIG.

That said, I occasionally make maps in my spare time, and there might be an immense map or two out there. My maps probably would suit you, though, as they tend to have even less planets.
