Can't finish escort quest

So I decided to go ahead and give the game a try although I wanted to wait for another patch or so. I played a game for a few hours just to get the hang of things, now starting again on the same map. In both games when I get to a quest that says "escort the noble man's son", I can't finish it. I go to the estate but nothing happens. I played through the last game without figuring it out, and now here I am again stuck.

 

Is there a way to cancel quests in progress at least? Or should I just avoid taking this quest from now on? Is this a known bug or what?

I've never had a problem with that quest, the only thing I can think is that if the nobleman's son isn't in your army (he could have died in a battle or something) you wouldn't be able to finish it.

Not finishing the quest won't hurt anything.  The estate and the inn will just sit there harmlessly.

I have gotten this quest multiple times, and never had the child in my party. Got tired of seeing the estate sitting their, and have stopped taking it. Just frustrated by it, and I would rather not be frustrated...

So I started a new map and the same thing happened. I never had the noble man's son join my party, I thought he was just invisible following me or something, lol. I am going to go ahead and put a link for my save in case anyone is interested. It's at the start of the map but no matter what I can't get the quest to work.
