Regarding the upgrade from 6.40 to 7.20

Hi. I didn't know where to ask this question, so I decided to ask it here :-)

I'm an owner of the licensed WindowBlinds 6.40 Enhanced. A few days ago I upgraded it to version 7.20. To get the upgrade I had to install Stardock Impulse (I did it and I downloaded the WB 7.20 through it, but it's kind of annoying...). Is there any chance of downloading the full setup for WB 7.20 Enhanced (like I was able to do it with my 6.40) without using the Impulse program? I would like to have the installation version in case I have to format my HDD or reinstall my OS without installing Impulse and downloading the upgrade everytime I need to install WB. Thanks in advance for any help.

Doesn't work that way, Pawel.

The reason is that using Impulse, piracy and distribution of the software(by anyone else but Stardock) is prevented.

Apart from that, you can download Impulse and then archive and backup the software. Then, store your archived file on an external device. All you'll ever have to do is reinstall Impulse, and use your nickname or email and password (the way you logon now) and Impulse will restore the software to your hard disk.

This is a very good thread (HERE) to save as it shows you how to do everything with screen shots (see Zubaz's replies).

I hope this is a good translation.  :)  (using Google Translate).

Thanks for the reply... I know already about "backing up" the software within Impulse. But installing it every time I do something with my system is not a good idea. Besides, this kind of "protection" can be hacked too. It's a matter of time... For me Impulse is unneeded software that does nothing but downloading an upgrade for the software I paid for... There should be some other way to prevent people from steeling licensed software without compelling loyal users to install unneeded crapware... Ahhhh.

^FrOzEn^ I think you may have misunderstood DrJBHL.  If you wipe you HDD becuase of a problem you need to reinstall Impulse only because it has the protocol for reinstalling your software from your archieves.  You do not have to install any new version or updates to the software.  Once you have reinstalled you software from you archieves you can then uninstall Impulse if you wish.  :sun:
