BoXXi...you in 'step yet?

I thought I had that step.rc behaving itself....works for me on win2k...so should on ME, too.
If not, lemme know....I'll hit it with a big stick..

No Paul, it's still screwed! But, I downloaded one of alexandrie's themes, and it behaved perfectly,(except when I tried to introduce a taskbar) so, I have slowly been converting that theme to one of my own without changing the directory structure or any paths. So far its o.k., except for those damn error messages when I open a folder. Did you see that I converted "BoXXiStep" to Desktopx?, it's in the screenshot section if you want to look. I quite like DX, and if Litestep continues to misbehave, I may dump it altogether (gulp!). I, just trying to learn how to make zoomers etc, but there is little information around. I often wonder how people learn to do it without instructions! I guess I'm just a dummy.
Thanks for all the help Paul, you're a star!

OK...I'm off to get that stick...I'll beat the heck out of it in ME.....something really must be whacky.....I'd delete all the core mods and exe and make CERTAIN all the base mods are 2001-01-02 dev build, and not any earlier or later.
Then I can give you a whole list of mods that DO work with it without agro.
Some of your stuff may still just have 'issues'.....

Thanks Paul, but it MUST be a system problem, because when I uploaded my themes to the various sites, they were working perfectly, but now if I download the same themes they don't work! Also Litespawn will NOT work on my system, it just says "litespawn has detected another shell, do you want to continue?" If I say yes, it restarts the 'puter and does it all again, and if I say no, it doesn't load anything and I have to reboot!
So, I dumped that too and went to "ShellSwitch" which works fine. I used Litespawn before with never a problem, so that also leads me to believe it's a system thing. What do YOU think?

While you're in this thread Boxxi, turn your ICQ on at some point, I need a favour from your good self.

I have heard that there are issues with Litespawn and win2k. I quit using litespawn before fetting win2k so I didn't experience them myself.

Currently I don't use a shell manager and just modify the one reg key to point to litestep. It allows me multiple instances of explorer when needed and doesn't give me any errors.

The tradeoff is having Litestep for all users. But the entire family prefers litestep anyway so thats no problem

fetting = putting

The part about the error msg on opening folders sounds like what I'm getting on win2k adv server. If I double click any of the DX shortcuts I have set up for folders, it opens as it should, along with a dialog that says something along the lines of "Access to the specified device is denied". Also, I find that a lot of apps (installers in particular) give me an error message (something about being 16 bit), with an ignore/cancel thing. If I ignore, it goes ahead fine, these are all current installers btw, not old 16bit ones. It's a pain in the butt, but then again, so was explorer.

I don't have probs with LiteSPAWN and 2k.....but recently wow.exe decided to refuse 16 bit installers and proggies already installed....dunno what went weird there, though....

No Martin, I only have ME installed, I've never run a dual boot system.
