Just upgraded to WFX4, would like to report my findings.

Hello.

Just upgraded to WFX4 from v3 and I absolutely love it, it works very well in WIN7 as opposed to WFX3

However, one of my apps, a control panel from an audio card (it's a CPL on the taskbar) doesn't show any content until I hover over buttons or force the whole thing to refresh by moving the window outside the screen.

There should be either a way to exclude apps or a way to deal with this kind of apps that don't draw well.

Excluding apps is a necessity since not everything necessarily looks nice with winfx, for instance, windows UI looks great with the new "Make incative windows darken" but FL studio doesn't really benefit from it. (in Fact FL studio bypasses most windowfx features, so I'd rather exclude it)

I have been beta tester for quite some time, including software like XLNAudio Addictive Drums, Celemony Melodyne and FL Studio. So let me know just in case you need a detailed report, or you need me to test something specifically.

Thanks.

Mat.

For technical reasons it will never be possible to exclude an application from make inactive windows darken.

For the non painting window, does it stop if you disable custom open animations?

I just disabled custom open animation and that solved it, it not such a biggie since I prefer "expand" anyways.

Shame is that the windowfx expand animation is much better, but I guess I have to live with it.

It's called Universal control and it's part of the drivers of my audio interface (Presonus Firestudio Project)

I think the issue relies in the fact that the app itself doesn't use any animation when opening. It does when closing, but not when opening. (only shows open anim on first sart, but not on successive dialog calls)

So...the app is causing this for sure, but there's no way the Presonus team wil listen to me if I report that because is just an ultra minor issue, and is not like the app is not working at all.

That's why I thought about selective disabling apps from WinFX because probably there are plenty of programs that could exhibit this kind of problems and is pointless (and time consuming) to convince them to fix the app to make it compatible with WinFX.

Maybe one solution could be "disable certain animation type for a certain app" I don't know.

This kind of things (app compatibility) was the main problem in windowfx 3 and I guess the only solution is to work it around from winfx rather than the app itself.

Here's a video showing how the app behaves.

Let me know if you want a detailed description of the video (I guess it's self explanatory)

End of Spyrofunk's quote

Do you know the exe of the control panel so we can manually exclude it from future WindowFX updates?

Actually I was able to find a download and reproduced the problem.

The next update should resolve this problem.

Sorry for the late response, seems like I cannot find a way to get automatic mail notifications from this forum.

Thanks for taking the time to download the universal control driver and check it yourself, jeez that's great support.

Waiting for the next update then..

thanks again.

One more thing.

When disabling windowfx most of the time it makes explorer.exe to crash.

Sorry to keep nagging.

But the recent update didn't solved the problem.
