Must we be on line to play Elemental - The "final" or any version?

Eventually, I will take my "game" computer home and will be without an internet connection. Will this prevent me from ever playing this game? If so, is this the new copy protection scheme now being used by Impulse/Stardock for all future titles?!!

I think that is only because you are using the beta.  If you shift to the non-beta version i think it should work fine.

Thank you for the reply; how do I shift from 109w beta to 109w non-beta as I intend to take my machine home Friday 17-12-2010. If I have to wait until the 1.1 version is released I will, gladly. I have been waiting almost 20 years for a replacement for MoM (for which I still have a 16bit 4Dos - Desqview - Qemm machine) my favourite game of all time.

The last non beta is 1.09e

I am not sure.  A clean install is the only way I know of but there may be a better way.  Good luck.

I am sure you can go back to 1.09e by unchecking the option to see pre release versions and then shift right clicking on elemental in impulse and selecting to verify the install. It should then tell you that you are using the wrong version and revert you to 1.09e

Thank you to all! That seems to have corrected the problem. I can learn some tactics, etc. while I await the re-release of the next version.

Ya 1.1 will be an official release and shouldn't require internet to run since that was a stipulation of the betas. And is slated to be released sometime today so you may just wanna wait for it rather than reverting and having to update in a few hours
