Interesting wives

Now that the game is getting more stable and I can play around alot more I have started to enjoy the diplomatic options which the games offers. While they are quite basic they seem a very solid foundation. I in particular like the ability to marry my sons off and gain another factions daughter to my cause.

So far one thing I have noticed is that the daughters I recieve never seem to have any interesting bonuses... Surely there is chance they should get some of the abilitys from the parent AI sov. Perhaps they are gaining all their abilities from the non sov parent. If this is the case I think it would be a really good idea for stardock to give the Ai sov's other halves some abilities. this would make the system much more exciting if the incoming daughter I was gaining from the marrage was going to come with an interesting ability.

It is my understanding that ai sovs automatcally start with a husband or wife. Does anyone know where in the xml files for these are located so I could look into making a mod for myself that does this in the meantime.

Last time I checked, sons get the abilities of the father and daughters those of the mother (channeling isn't guaranteed).

Is channeling guarenteed when its between a sov and a imbued champion do you know. Ok so currently the only way I am going to get a daughter from another faction with interesting bonuses is if that faction has a female sov?

on a related note, am i the only one that wishes children wouldn be level 1 when they come of age? it puts them out of kilter with other units in that stage of the game, and questing/monster hunting with them all to get them to the higher levels is such a pain. perhaps there should be some mechanic that gives some of the xp earned by an individual to other members of the faction? so that if you choose to have lots of champions and children then they will all level together, but slightly more slowly?

i would also like to have some sort of incentive not to marry the first available champion that appears. perhaps higher level children from higher level spouses

oh, and also the ability to customize children's starting appearance and stats. too many 16 year olds with beards at the moment. of course, this won't matter too much once the unit-card bug is fixed.

i also think the game could handle every child being a channeler. now that mana is global, multiple channelers should only be of logistical benefit (unlike in the old days, where it really did mean more total power) and mana should be the limitting factor. if that makes having children a no-brainer, then i would argue that staying single should be given it's own benefits. for example, a spell that tranforms the sovereign into an immortal lich but prevents him having children.

I don't mind them being level one so much though i can see why it might be a bother to others. My hope is that they make the passing on of abilities abit more complex and random than just getting your father or mothers abilities... now if you had a chance of getting abilities from both that would lead to some really interesting hero breeding, and after all thats what we are all here for.. hero breeding...... right?     guys?

Funny thing is.. I've never had a child/grandchild/etc  that HASN'T been a channeler. Every single one has.. Though to greater or lesser degrees. I've had some start as channelers with 4 mana.. and one start as a lvl 1 channeler with around 35mana!

I wish there was a way other than those (pretty rare) tablets to rebuild mana faster. Anyone know a trick for it? Health is easy enough. park in a city and you get a lot back fast. And there's food/healing items you can buy.

yep!

agree that ai sov spouses need a random ability/trait, if nothing else some thing like royalty?. also feel inheriting traits randomly from both parents to sov spawn would be awesome!

while playing ive been wondering why my sov kids wouldn't automatically have royalty as a trait?

what would bee really cool is if there was a high chance you kids would have one trait from either parent. a moderate chance they'd get both. and a slim chance of manifesting a new trait. maybe i'm dreaming here, but id love to see this part of the game get some love at some point.

I guess you should only to marry your sons to daughter of female sovereigns never daugthers of male sovereigns.

This is the most awesome title I've ever seen for a thread about a strategy game.

That is all.
