New unit vs upgraded unit

I noticed that when I create a new unit at the very beginning of the game, it has less hp than the stock units.  My peasant comes with 14 health, where my new unit comes with 12.  To get around this I create a new unit by upgrading the peasant and it keeps the 14 health.  Using identical equipment the units have identical attributes (as expected), except health.  Is this functioning properly?

In a completely unrelated note, I get this error every time I start elemental.

"Elemental: War of Magic 1.09p :Elemental.exe - Entery Point Not Found

The procedure entry point RIB_unregister_interface could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll."

I just  ctrl+alt+del, get rid of the error, and get back into the program, with no known side effects.  A minor inconvenience, but if a fix is available I certianly would enjoy it. I can only find this post here https://forums.elementalgame.com/392873 that has any mention of the error I get.

An issue like this has been an issue with the Fallen races as long as I have been playing the game.  They use to have 8hp when the other units would have 5hp, and 1 extra attack and 1 less defence.

I made a Wraith kingdom and a normal unit has 12 hp, if I upgrade the Pilgrim I will have 13hp and if I upgrade the Peasant they will hae 14.  And they are obviously a completely different race as the Wraiths too.
