[1.09p] Notable lvl 5 & Quest lvl 5 @ turn 8 [FIXED for 1.09Q]

Turn 8 of game and Magnar has Quest level 5 and Notables level 5 according to Kingdom report.  [Edit: returned to save game turn 1 and Magnar started this game with both on level 5.]

Unconnected but some level 0 notables are not showing on the cloth map.

Yup, Magnar is screwed up.  I would load up a save game and my quest level would go up for no reason, was at level 4 before I realized it was screwy.

I recently noticed these high level locations as well.  So I just checked, and Magnar's got a Notables level of 9 by season 65!  He doesn't have the tech for it.  Everyone else is at 1.

 

EDIT: It may be that this problem applies to all of the new faction starting techs.  See reply #10 for more.

OK beaten to it but I did some testing and Magnar goes up 2 notable and 2 quest levels every time I reload a game.

What I reckon is happening is that every time the game loads it applies Magnar's starting tech bonus (should be +1 notables, +1 quest levels but it's always bumped the empires from 1 to 3 for some reason -pre-existing bug?-).  I wonder if this (reapplying starting tech on reload, where applicable) is happening to all factions?  It won't matter for some but Altar, eg., will end up with a shitload of resources.

So with a bit more testing it's now clear that Altar spawn a new resource every time I reload.  The irony is that they don't spawn a resource on turn 1 for some unknown reason!

Argh!  This makes the beta unplayable for me until another patch - I can't handle Magnar with level 13 notables or Altar with an extra 5 resources after 5 reloads - at the moment I can't play for hours solid so...  Please, please Stardock sort this one out quick and get us back to Beta-ing it up. :waaaa:

I was excluding Magnar from any game I played and now will exclude Altar as well.

Is that also the cause for notables respawning on reload? Whenever I reload my game a huge amount (probably equal to the starting amount) of chests/huts/abandoned caravans get added to the map.

Then I should try playing without Altar and Magnar, as this bug was pretty annoying (as I still get the occasional CTD, especially later in the game).

In my most recent game, Magnar the AI may have indeed had level 5 notable locations (that might explain the goody huts stacked 2 or 3 deep around his empire that I posted about in another thread), but he wasn't searching them... I ended up raiding several of them right next to his capital city.

It may be that this problem applies to all of the new faction starting techs.  I created a custom faction with the Wanderlust, Cartographers, and Habitation techs.  Had a non-EWOM related crash a couple turns in, then came back and found a new Fertile Land, Arcane Temple, and Crystal Crag.  My Notables level had also increased.  New goody huts appeared.  And a Darkling Camp spawned nearby.   

In my previous game where Magnar had gotten up to a level 9 Notable, I noticed a grouping of 3 Darkling Camps and a grouping of 3 Wild Horse.  There is a tech to get a Darkling Camp, and I must assume there is a tech to get Horse.  So it seems it may be an issue with all of the factions starting techs.

just so you know Derek, all the faction's racial trait bonuses are reapplied when you reload, including Educated and Uneducated (unless that was fixed as well).
