Unable to finish installing...

I just bought Elemental today, after following it for a while and finally deciding that its turining into the game I hope its going to be.  So sweet, download it via Impulse, it does its install thing right up until it wants to configure the Microsoft C++ Redistributable thing.  It gets to like 99.9% complete (the green bar is full, or close enough that I can't see any white), then it hits me with an error and essentially resets the C++ install, which now doesn't finish.  Ok, after a little while of running on the treadmill or whatever its doing, the install finishes and it says recently installed on Impulse.  Excellent, go to play the game, hit play on the menu, and it gives me the error "Run setup.exe or install via Impulse".  I'm unable to start the actual game.  I uninstalled the game, redownloaded it and restalled it and the exact same issue reoccured.  Am I doing something wrong, or is the install corrupted somehow?  While waiting for a reply, will attempt to uninstall and redownload/install a third time.  Unfortuantely, I didn't copy the error from the C++ thing, if it does it again, I will update this with exactly what it says.  It had a bunch of numbers and letters and something about win1 and 64 bit and some other things in quotes.

 

Anyone have any ideas?

If there was an issue with the VC++ install, you might try installing the redistributable directly from Microsoft (make sure to grab the appropriate one for your version of Windows).

ya, thanks.  In the end, it had nothing to do with the game and everything to do with some old registry keys on my computer that were screwing it up.  It took a bit of a convoluted path to fix it, but the Microsoft support knowledgebase worked it out for me.  Thanks.  You can delete this thread or close it or whatever.
