Strange Graphical Glitches in Ship Designer

I've had this issue for a very long time with the game but having regained interest in it, I find myself wanting to finally fix this strange issue.  I have the game and all 3 expansions but I play Arnor more than the others and I notice, seemingly with each race, that at least 1 hull of every hull type is a weird blotchy mess that's impossible to use.

I'd really like to be able to use these additional models with the game to add some more flavor and spice to it.  Here's a screen shot of it in case my vague description wasn't enough:

Any solutions would be welcome.

It's a "blank" hull which is just a tiny cube with attachment points on all sides. The arrows are so large because the cube is quite small.

Toggling the hardpoint display off should let you get a better look at it, but there's not much to see since it's just intended as a clean slate for you to build your own hulls entirely out of the jewelry bits.
