TO system builder, folks looking to upgrade video cards

To all system builders and people looking to upgrade, from what i hear Nvidia is going to be doing a huge price cut in their GeForce GTX 470 or 460 video card lines in the next few days, not sure how long to filter down to us the consumer, but it shouldnt be long

"Word on the street is that Nvidia is changing UMAP pricing on the GTX 460 1GB and GTX 470 for the better, from the consumers' standpoint anyway," Bennett says. "Expect to see some fairly big price drops in the next couple of days that will bring both the cards down to previous unheard of prices. The price drops on the GTX 470 will likely be a very well received enthusiast 'sweetspot' card."

If true, these aren't random price cuts. AMD is expected to release its Radeon HD 6870 and 6850 videocards tomorrow, and a well timed price cut could steal some of the thunder away from AMD's launch.

This is good news as I plan to build a new system in the nearish future, and a GTX 460 or GTX 470 would a be nice upgrade to the GTX 260 I have.

So yeah, with an i7 950, a GTX 460 - 70 and 12gb of DDR3 I'll be able to kick some butt when messing around with audio/video creation/conversion.

It's always the way, one or the other trying to steal the other's thunder, which is great from a consumer's standpoint... we all benefit.
