Pirate AI fail

So i'm unlucky enough to have 2 planets next to a pirate base, 1 terran, and a dead asteroid. So, natuarally, I built a starbase in each with the standard defensive structures around it. My main fleet was stationed at the terran planet, since I figured that's where the attack would come from, because it had the most civilian structures out of all my planets. At one point, i had used up all of my credits making my fleet, so I let the pirates attack me. Instead of hitting my most economically viable planet, they attack the dead asteroid with nothing on it except a fully upgraded starbase and a hell of a lot of defensive platforms. They were slaughtered. Stardock, I really think that this failiure ought to be fixed.

It's AI.  You can't expect too much out of it.  If want smart opponents, your only real option is to log onto Ironclad Online and play against other people.

The AI in general isn't that intelligent, and usually is somewhat arbitrary.  I'd like to see smarter pirates, too, but right now they just pick a target and go on the offensive; not much to it.

Well, in Diplomacy they upped the armor and health and firepower and etc... and now they are just obnoxious.

Besides, AI is a tricky thing to program.

No Stardock! Don't fix it.

Best is pirates who forget to arm their ships, or leave ammo at home, fly their ships backwards, run into each other and explode!
