I also saved them to libaries/documents/my games/elemental/mods

They should be in that folder. Also, did you check Use Mods in the Options screen? You also have to start a new game to use the mods (no loading an old saved game, unless you dont want to use the mods).

But other than that most mods have instructions with them (usually inside the zip or rar file), so take a look inside the file, and see what the instructions are.

Did you extract the files? The .rar or .zip you downloaded has to be extracted, it is not enough simply to place the file in the /mods/ folder.

If you double-click on a downloaded .rar or .zip, what happens? Ideally, it will open a program or a window that shows you what is inside the file. These files have to be extracted to the right location. You can most likely do this by dragging the folders to your /mods/ folder.

If nothing happens when you double-click it, or if it tells you to find a program for opening such a file, you can find such a program at www.winrar.com

The folders should not be copied more than once. When you open the .rar or .zip, the CPELF folder should be placed directly under /mods/, and the GFX folder should also be placed directly under /mods/

You should have

/documents/my games/elemental/mods/cpelf

and

/documents/my games/elemental/mods/gfx/

correct?

Are you running the latest version of the game? Update through Impulse if you aren't.

Back up a bit, perhaps.  Do you understand that files with a ".rar"  or ".zip" ending are compressed (condensed) files, packed to take up less space when moving. copying, etc... ?  Compressed files cannot do anything alone.  To use the file, you have to "unpack" it first.  That requires, as stated above, a program to unpack it,  There are may free ones out there.  Win zip comes to mind.  Many are good. Some handle more than one compression type. Almost every site you go to to download the free version will try to get you to "buy" a 'better version."  For what we do, the free versions are more than adequate.

You download and install the unpacking program, unzip, whatever. Once it is installed on your PC.  The compressed "rar" "zip" whatever, will recognize the unpacking program and un-zip to wherever you tell it when you double click on it.  Once unzipped, you will have files in folders.  These folders are what you move into the EWoM mod folder.  Hope this helps.
