Tech Trading with Minor Civ Problem

Minor race won't trade with me after a re-load of a save game

Hello all! I'm having a strange problem in my current game. I was using the strategy where you trade with a minor race for all the techs they have and all their money, and then immediately after defeat them before they have a chance to trade it to anyone else (cruel, I know...).

Just in case, I saved my game, and then I traded with the minor race. It was going great, I talked with them and got all of their technology and all their money in exchange for some of my own technologies. Immidately after the trade was done I sent in my warships and defeated their defenses, and then invaded with my troop transports.

This is where my plan went south. My invasion failed, and I didn't have any more transports in range that could make it that same turn. So, I decided to reload my save game and try again. Only now the civ won't trade with me at all. I can offer all my techs and all my planets and all my money, and he won't budge. Before the reload I had no problems getting all his techs by simply trading my techs.

Has anyone else seen this before?

Can't say I've seen it, but I have a related point. If you don't want races to turn around and give all your techs away after you trade, you can select "Disable Tech Brokering".

 

Edit to add: I guess it depends on the version you're playing.  I only play Twilight 2.03, and I forget when that option was added.

I play Twilight as well, latest patches. I remember that Tech Brokering option, I didn't think about that.

On a side note, I tried this again with another minor race. I traded them for all of their techs, money, and IP. The trade was successful. I then invaded, and with my luck, I failed again! So, I made sure I finished out the turn, quit the game, and loaded back up a save. This time I was able to do the trade again successfully, and then I killed the minor just as I wanted the second time around. I have no idea why it didn't work on the first one.
