heavy gear mod?

just listing the possibilities, I wouldn't say I'm capable of doing it on my own, but it seems possible.

kingdom changed into the north, empire would be the south with the various sub factions being nations. hero characters would be gear pilots while peace river, port Arthur, and the rovers would be quests/monsters/ect. with heroes being the gear pilots, trained units would be like tanks and infantry.

anyone like this idea?

In the Heavy Gear universe the Gears are a mass manufactured stepping stone between infantry and tanks. Seems like they would be more applicable as the basic trainable soldier. Infantry would come in a couple of varieties (Anti-Infantry and Anti-Gear) and be quite cheap compared to the other forces. Tanks would probably work similarly to Sions (unalterable units available when a certain building is researched/produced).

Some heavy animation work would need to be done, as even though the Gears are humanoid, they have significantly different builds to humans. Plus I'm pretty sure the game doesn't have a "two handed rifle firing" animation.

The map making system would have to be altered so there was little/no water (most of the planet Heavy Gear is set on is desert, after all).

Don't get me wrong, I love the Heavy Gear universe and wish it had more attention. It just isn't an easy job to do.

at the same time that we would have to get rid of water the ships could probably be altered to work on land as .. uhh ... the "land" ships, but all that should take would be to un-flag whatever is keeping them in the water.

gears as general production would be better, I was just trying to think of how to make the hero units "special". maybe the hero units could be set to be the land ships ... but then how would that handle hero combat? nahh, that's not a good idea.

this idea popped into my head today as I was reminiscing about the online conquest mode for the heavy gear video game and the hex map reminded me of Elemental and then it just seemed like a perfect fit. sure it would take one hell of a face lift but as far as game mechanics goes, most of the non regular attacks (like rockets, mortars, and grenades) could be crafted by recycling the spells but beyond setting up the ships to work on land there really wouldn't be much else that would need to be changed programing wise.
